About Game3rb
What is Game3rb?
Game3rb is a site for finding PC games and reading up on them: what they’re like, what hardware they need, and how to install them.
Every game has its own page. Read it before you do anything else.
Where can I find PC games?
Start with the All Games directory. Open any listing to see the description, system requirements, and source details.
How do I download a PC game?
Open the game’s page, check the requirements, and follow the download instructions listed there.
If a link bounces you through odd redirects or asks for personal info, close the tab. A game download never needs your bank details.
Are PC games free, and are downloads legal?
Some games are free-to-play. Most cost money and need a license, and copyright rules differ from country to country. Checking what’s legal where you live is your job.
If you want the simplest route, buy from Steam or GOG. You can also read our Terms of Service.
Why does Game3rb show ads?
Hosting and bandwidth cost real money, and ads pay for part of it.
Close pop-ups you didn’t ask for. If an ad tells you to install software or enter sensitive info, walk away.
Downloads and file extraction
How do I extract RAR and ZIP files?
Why is my download slow?
Pause any other big downloads and check your connection first. If the host server is slow or down, try again later.
Free Download Manager works with some links and can resume interrupted downloads. It won’t speed up a slow server, though.
My download failed or the archive is corrupted. What now?
- Make sure you have enough free disk space.
- Compare your file size with the size listed on the game’s page.
- Download it again.
- Try a different browser if it keeps failing.
Never run a random .exe from some other site to “repair” a broken download.
How do I fix a missing DLL error?
A missing DLL usually means the game needs a Windows runtime or another component. Read the exact error message, then get that component from its official source.
Start at Microsoft Support or Microsoft Learn. Don’t grab single DLL files from sites you’ve never heard of.
Security and antivirus
My antivirus flagged a game. Is it safe?
A warning can mean malware, a potentially unwanted program, or a false positive. The alert alone doesn’t tell you which.
Keep your security software on. Check the file with your antivirus vendor and, if you can, the publisher. If you can’t confirm it’s clean, don’t run it.
How can I tell if a file is trustworthy?
- Prefer official publisher sites and authorized stores.
- Read the web address before you download.
- Scan every file with security software you trust.
- Check signatures or checksums when the publisher provides them.
- Skip anything that asks you to turn off your protection.
Microsoft’s security guidance goes deeper.
Game errors and performance
My game or installer won’t start. What should I check?
Compare your PC against the system requirements, install pending Windows updates, and restart. Follow the developer’s instructions for any required runtimes.
If you see an error code, look it up in the official support docs.
Why does my game crash or close on its own?
Common causes: weak hardware, old drivers, damaged game files, overheating, and conflicting software.
Check your temperatures, update your graphics driver, and run the game’s repair or verify-files option if it has one. Leave Windows Firewall and antivirus on while you troubleshoot.
Where can I download graphics drivers?
Pick your exact hardware model and Windows version before you install.
What is DirectX, and how do I update it?
DirectX is a set of Windows components that games and media apps rely on. Windows Update handles most of it. Some older games ask for extra components, and the developer’s docs say which.
Try Microsoft Support or the game’s official documentation.
Why is there no sound in my game?
Check the in-game audio settings and the Windows volume mixer. Make sure the right output device is selected, and replug your headset.
Still silent? Look for audio driver updates on your computer maker’s support site.
Why isn’t my game saving progress?
Three things to check: the game can write to its save folder, your disk has free space, and cloud sync has finished. The developer’s support page will tell you where saves live.
Back up your saves before you repair or reinstall.
