Windrose is a side-scrolling action RPG mixed with mining, exploration, and procedural world generation, built around the idea of expanding underground rather than simply moving forward through a linear campaign. Set in a fantasy world inspired by dwarven mythology and industrial adventure themes, players take control of a miner-explorer tasked with digging deeper, uncovering ancient secrets, gathering resources, and building equipment strong enough to survive increasingly dangerous environments. Instead of separating combat and progression into different systems, Windrose ties almost everything back to exploration and underground expansion.
The core gameplay combines mining, crafting, combat, and equipment progression inside destructible environments. Players travel through layered underground zones searching for ore deposits, hidden chambers, valuable materials, and ancient structures. Digging is not treated as a side activity—it becomes one of the main progression mechanics. Resources collected during exploration are used to improve weapons, unlock tools, strengthen gear, and support longer expeditions into more dangerous areas.
