Memories of a Quintessential Summer picks up Futaro’s story with the Nakano sisters, set around the tail end of the anime’s second season, after the manga’s tenth volume but before the movie closes things out. Futaro and his younger sister Raiha get invited to the quintuplets’ island for what’s supposed to be a quick three-day trip. A typhoon hits. Three days turns into two weeks, stuck with barely enough food and supplies to make it to a rescue boat.

That setup gives the game its structure. You’re not just clicking through dialogue. You’re managing five people’s survival and their grades at the same time, because apparently a stranded island doesn’t excuse the quintuplets from schoolwork. Each day splits into chunks where you assign study, rest, or food gathering to the sisters, plus separate blocks for cooking. Futaro can jump in and help one of them directly, which boosts both their score and how close he gets to that particular sister.

There’s a real fail state buried in the schedule sim, too. All five quintuplets need a score of 60 or higher in every subject by day 14. Miss the mark on even one, and it’s game over. Scores don’t just climb, either. Skip studying for too long and they slide back down. It adds pressure to a game that otherwise plays like a laid-back beach getaway.

Once the common route wraps, the game splits into seven individual paths, one per heroine, told through more traditional visual novel scenes. Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki each get their own arc, and the choices you made during the schedule-management stretch carry weight here. There’s very little conflict along the way. Sisters bicker, sure, but nothing that lingers. This is a comfort read dressed up as island survival.

Every heroine is fully voiced by the original Japanese cast: Kana Hanazawa as Ichika, Ayana Taketatsu as Nino, Miku Ito as Miku, Ayane Sakura as Yotsuba, and Inori Minase as Itsuki. Futaro’s voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka. The game also comes packed with new illustrations made specifically for this release, including swimsuit and wedding dress art you won’t find anywhere else in the franchise. With over 15 endings on offer, the sister you invest in and the bond you build with her decides how the story closes.

Worth knowing going in: this isn’t built for newcomers. It leans hard on prior knowledge of the anime or manga, and doesn’t spend much time reintroducing who’s who. Fans of the series get a light, easygoing extension of a story they already love.
